As part of their training, tri-athletes often do a "brick" workout, which is a bike ride followed immediately with a short run. Inspired by community outreach efforts of friends and family in Houston and Little Rock to local area women and children in need, Rick Hood, an avid tri-athlete, has designed his own “brick” to support these local efforts in his own unique way. On March 8, 2009, Rick will leave Houston, TX and bike over 500 miles to Little Rock, AR where he will participate in the annual Little Rock Marathon (www.littlerockmarathon.com) on March 15 iin an effort to raise money for two great organizations that come to the aid women and children in crisis: The Women's Home and Women and Children First.
Explore this website to learn more about Rick (The Man),his desire to help women and children in need (The Challenge), and the two organizations that will benefit from the BRICK (The Causes). You can also follow Rick throughout this journey (beginning to end) in his Journal or sponsor him online by clicking the "Donate" button in the menu bar to the left..
With as much cold weather training as possible, Rick is determined to complete this BRICK and in doing so, be part of an important effort to help the women and their children in Houston and Little Rock area who need our support. Will you join him? |
